Laid out around a temple of live performance designed by the architect Charles Garnier, the Opera neighbourhood is a place to appreciate a Paris of a certain standing.
The ghost of Gaston Leroux seems to have left the premises, but l'Opera de Paris (one of the largest in the world) has lost nothing of its majesty and its interior never fails to leave the visitor lost for words. From the outside, it rises masterfully from the centre of a busy square, symbolic of the bustling cars and pedestrians, so typical of Paris.
To the left, the boulevard des Capucines with its Cafe de la Paix and its terrace providing a great view of the square. A short walk down its wide pavement brings you to l'Olympia, the mythical concert venue which has seen the biggest names in French singing of the 20th century take to its stage.
Those who appreciate Japanese food should head towards la Bourse via the rue du 4 Septembre to the rue Sainte Anne and a table at one of the most famous addresses for Japanese cuisine.
Continue on foot down the immense Avenue de l'Opera towards the Louvre or the address of your night time activity at Paris Paris, one of the capital's most sought-after nightclubs.
