Bercy is often associated with the Palais Omnisport of the same name, a neighbourhood with a difference next to the Seine with many other things going for it.
An immense structure, the POPB and its sloping grassy flanks have put Bercy on the map by accommodating exhibitions of all types for over 20 years: concerts, motocross, skating, basketball. Holding up to 17 000 spectators, it is one of Europe's key exhibition centres.
More firmly rooted in the history of Paris, the Cour St Emilion (former wine warehouses, because there was once a thriving wine industry here) is an area for walking and shopping at in the very centre of the Parc de Bercy, a vast open space which is a favourite with those living to the south west of the capital.
Just next door, the Cinematheque francaise attracts cinema enthusiasts from all over the world. As for the cultural highlights of the Bercy neighbourhood, you need to head for the Simone De Beauvoir footbridge which will take you across the Seine. Here you will find a monument to knowledge: the imposing national library, the Bibliotheque Nationale de France (BNF).
Down below, you can feast on the water on the Batofar and on the Guinguette Pirate, nightlife venues with a difference, moored to the banks of the Seine.
